The NJIT Makerspace was masterfully and creatively designed to inspire innovation, invention and production – and it did exactly that for our team at Arnold Contract as we worked on outfitting the space with a truly one-of-a-kind reception desk, mobile news anchor desk and podium.
This project allowed us to work with several fun and interesting materials, including reclaimed wood, butcher block tops and hot-rolled steel details. But one of the most striking elements of the design is the Corian back-lit logo that we laser-cut into the steel accents on all three pieces we created.
Located on the campus of NJIT in Newark, New Jersey, the 9,500-square-foot Makerspace facility enables both students and faculty to engage in hands-on teaching and learning. It holds $3 million worth of state-of-the-art equipment, ranging from industrial to small prototyping machines.
